Why does it seem like only stupid videos go viral?

Okay, okay, we love watching ‘The Evolution of Dance’ and ‘Charlie bit my finger’ too — but isn’t it time for a video with an actual message to go viral?

And not just viral — MEGA viral. Like, tomorrow your grandma will be emailing this to you, it’s that viral.

We have the plan. But we need your help. Details below the jump.

This is the video. Definitely viral material. Imagine getting it in front of THOUSANDS of people – with just a few minutes of work.

Check this out:

1) Click here to download the video file, super-fast.
2) Upload it to your Facebook account. In the video description, include a link to the YouTube video and to this page.
3) Tag 50 of your friends.
4) Be amazed at the results.
5) Rinse and repeat to get THOUSANDS more views every time you do it.

Why does this work?

You remember Facebook’s little News Feed change from a few weeks back, right? It makes ‘news-y’ type updates float to the top of the News Feed, meaning that if you can get an item (say, a video) to the top of that list, the Facebook friends of EVERY person you tag see that video first thing when they log in.

Say the 50 people you tag have an average of 100 unique friends each (friends that aren’t mutual between them). That means your super-hot video (which WILL attract comments that shoot it up to the top of the News Feed) will be put in the eyes of FIVE THOUSAND PEOPLE. Now imagine if hundreds – or thousands – of these videos were posted all across Facebook, 50 people tagged each. That’s like a bajillion people seeing this.

So help us make liberty go viral. The future of the country is at stake.

“If there is no struggle, there is no progress. Those who profess to favor freedom, and yet depreciate agitation, are men who want crops without plowing up the ground. They want rain without thunder and lightning. They want the ocean without the awful roar of its many waters. This struggle may be a moral one; or it may be a physical one; or it may be both moral and physical; but it must be a struggle.” –Frederick Douglass
